School of Nursing Reenter Policy for Pre-Licensure Programs

Students who have been dismissed from an undergraduate, pre-licensure School of Nursing program at Rasmussen University part of American Public University System ("Rasmussen") (defined as the Practical Nursing Diploma program, Professional Nursing Associate's degree program, and the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program through the Standard Entrance Accelerated BSN Entrance Option and the Second Degree Accelerated BSN Entrance Option) for disciplinary or conduct reasons will not be eligible for reentry into Rasmussen's School of Nursing programs and are not eligible for reentry to any program through the Rasmussen academic unit.

Reentry is subject to both Rasmussen’s School of Nursing Repeating Courses and Course Withdrawal Policy for Pre-Licensure Programs and Rasmussen’s School of Nursing Course Expiration Policy for Undergraduate Programs.

Students who have been administratively withdrawn from an undergraduate, pre-licensure School of Nursing program at Rasmussen due to 1) failing the same core course twice as designated by course prefix NUR or PRN, 2) failing any two core courses as designated by course prefix NUR or PRN, or 3) withdrawing from the same core course twice as designated by course prefix NUR or PRN, are eligible for reentry into the same School of Nursing program within the Rasmussen academic unit after two full academic quarters have passed from the last quarter in which attendance and grades were posted if an exception is approved by the Academic Leader under the Extenuating Circumstances Policy. Otherwise, the student may be eligible for reentry into the same School of Nursing program within the Rasmussen academic unit after four full academic quarters have passed from the last quarter in which attendance and grades were posted, at which time all core courses will have expired. See the School of Nursing Undergraduate Handbook for Rasmussen University part of American Public University System for additional information.

Reentry into a previously attempted Nursing Diploma, Associate's Degree, or prelicensure Bachelor's Degree program is limited to one time for students withdrawn for not meeting program standards as defined in the Nursing Handbook.

Previously completed core courses, as designated by course prefix NUR, PRN and NGR, will be assessed against the current program to determine which course(s) will be applied to the program into which they are enrolling. All previously completed general education courses will be applied as required in the program. Rasmussen University will allow the student to reenter at the appropriate level in a current program if a space in the program is available and all other reentry requirements are met.

All core courses, whether passed or failed, from any prior enrollment will remain on the student's academic record. When a student reenters an undergraduate, pre-licensure School of Nursing program at Rasmussen after the course expiration period as defined in the School of Nursing Course Expiration Policy for Undergraduate Programs, no previously failed core courses will apply for the purpose of determining the number of failed core courses or apply for the purpose of determining Satisfactory Academic Progress. See Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).

For graduates of an undergraduate, pre-licensure School of Nursing program at Rasmussen who are returning for a subsequent undergraduate, pre-licensure School of Nursing program at Rasmussen, no previously failed or withdrawn core courses will count for the purpose of determining the number of failed or withdrawn core courses in the new enrollment. All core courses, whether passed, withdrawn or failed, will remain on the student’s academic record. All previously passed, withdrawn or failed unexpired core courses will apply for the purpose of determining Satisfactory Academic Progress. See Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
