Undergraduate NanoCert® in Community Risk Reduction Chief

Program Description

The NanoCert entitled Community Risk Reduction Chief prepares students to understand the responsibilities, duties, and roles of a Community Risk Reduction Chief. The undergraduate NanoCert, Community Risk Reduction Chief, is a three-course program that focuses on being proactive and reducing the risks to communities by implementing services, actions, and programs that mitigate or prevent the loss of life, resources, and property associated with the safety of life, fire, and other disasters within the community.

NanoCert Objectives

After successfully completing this NanoCert, the student will be able to:

  • Discuss the theory and practice associated with community fire and emergency mitigation, planning, protection, response, and recovery.
  • Examine fire community relations, community outreach, volunteerism and fire protection, strategic community planning, and inter-organizational responses, among other issues.
  • Discuss how the systems approach to building fire protection functions.
  • Analyze the components of the process for designing fire protection systems for specific situations and hazards.
  • Explain the different components involved in community risk reduction.
  • Produce a comprehensive community risk reduction plan.
  • Compare and contrast different community intervention strategies for risk reduction.
